Jim Shaw is a native of the beautiful State of Maine and more specifically of Mars Hill which is in the Heartland of Aroostook County, the largest and northernmost county in Maine.  Mars Hill Mountain is located in this community and is where the first 50 star flag in the U.S. was raised on July 4th, 1960, when Hawaii became a state.

After graduating from Gordon College in Wenham, Massachusetts with a BA in pre-med Biology, he moved to Aroostook County to continue his family's tradition of growing the famous "Maine" potatoes on several family farms.  The operation also consisted of "the best little 'packin-plant' in Maine" as well as a brokerage firm.

While serving as a school board member in his local school district, he saw a need to bring about reform in the educational system, and more specifically the teaching profession.  He felt that schools needed to be more "exciting" and "fun" for kids with "hands-on" activities especially in the field of Science.  This led to him spending eight wonderful years as a middle/high school Science teacher making learning a "fun and exciting" experience for his students.  He was able
to offer the latest in technology to his classroom to enhance the learning experience and help students discover and bring out the "best"
in themselves.

Jim also was the President and CEO of a network marketing company which helped introduce the WebTV to many families all across America. This product brings the powerful and exciting internet to families in
their homes right on their television sets.

His most recent experience has been in introducing families to a "Lifetime of Vacations" through the exciting world of "Vacation Ownership".  He has the innate ability to create "excitement" and "fun" in
whatever he is involved with.  His buying and selling skills have been honed through his diversified background which centers on his desire to help people.

Jim brings his “energy” and love of helping people to the exciting World of Real Estate.  He understands that one of the most prized possessions on earth is a person’s Home.  This is why after two extremely successful years at Aroostook Real Estate in Presque Isle Jim decided to open his own Real Estate Company in the town where he lives and the town he loves in January of 2003.  His company is Northern Maine Realty, located on Main Street in Mars Hill and offers exclusive Buyer or Seller Representation for clients who desire professional, competent marketing services. 

Volume of sales has increased each year since he opened the company and over 8 Million in sales was achieved in 2006.  When the opportunity was available to open a branch office in Houlton, in the mid part of 2006, Jim was pleased to have Sam Henderson come on board and manage that office.  Sam is a native of Houlton and offers a gentle, aggressive, competitive spirit which will bring him much success in the real estate arena.
